Choose Life!

From the beginning of time, God has given mankind a choice.

Most of us know the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. God gave them a choice, and sadly, they chose to disobey God. Their choice affected not only themselves, but also, the entire human race. I praise God we have a Redeemer, Jesus Christ His Son, Who's shed blood is the final and perfect atonement for sin! Hallelujah for the blood!

Sadly, Adam and Eve's choice to disobey God not only brought spiritual death upon all man, it also brought physical death upon all man.

Romans 5:12 says: "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

Sadly, things like health issuessickness, and death are the result of living in a fallen world, something we are all born into. Originally, God did not intend for man to die spiritually or physically! I thank God that we can be redeemed spiritually right now on this earth! As Christians, we're still waiting to be redeemed, physically, with the redemption of our body when Christ comes back to take us home!

Romans 8:22-23 says it well: "For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body."

All of God's creation groans with us while waiting for that day!

Over the years, I've heard about certain people who either say or imply that if you "do this" or "eat this way", you will not die! When I hear things like that, I often raise my eyebrows and think about this verse in Hebrews 9:27 where it says: "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment."

I share all this to make a point. No matter how healthy someone might eat and no matter the good things someone might do, we will still die, physically, someday unless we are a part of the generation that sees the return of Christ. (what a glorious day that will be!) Until we have a glorified body, I'm not sure we will ever have "perfect health".

In starting a health blog, I felt it would be wise to share this. There are many different views on health, but the sad truth is we will eventually die someday. God's Word is clear about that. The good news is that God offers spiritual redemption to mankind and with that comes physical redemption someday!

If you do not know God, personally, please know that God created you and loves you and died for you. There is nothing greater that you could do than give your heart and life to Him! God wants you and wants you to choose Him in return! That's the greatest choice anyone can ever make!

The beautiful thing about God is that He is a perfect Gentleman. God has given mankind a free will to choose between life and death and good and evil. God never forces anyone to do anything.

Sadly, many people choose death over life and evil over good. Many people in my country have chosen death over life in the form of abortion, choosing to murder a tiny baby inside the womb of its mother. How heartbreaking!

Why does God allow such evil in the world? That's a question many people have struggled with, myself included. I don't claim to have the answer to that question, but I do see one thing clearly: God has given man a choice to do good or to do evil. That seems to be one reason why God allows it.

Those who choose evil often affect not only themselves but also others. That is a hard reality and truth. The comforting thing is that those who choose to do evil will stand before God someday as the righteous Judge.

Deuteronomy 30 is a chapter in the Bible about blessings and curses.

Deuteronomy 30:19 says: "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live."

God pleads with His people to choose life that they may live

Even though we live in a fallen world, God has still given us many wonderful blessings! Some of those blessings are things I desire to share on this health blog!

Admittedly, I've been a little timid in starting this new blog. I'm almost certain that, in time, I will receive criticism in some way, and I don't handle criticism very well. (who does?) Despite that, I felt I couldn't keep these blessings to myself.

So, with all of that said, I look forward to sharing with you "Erin's Healthy Choices"

Disclaimer: I am not a medical doctor, and I have no medical training. The things I share on this blog are simple, practical things that I've learned help with good health.
