Coffee
As promised, here come all of the practical posts, finally!
Do you like coffee?
Me too! I love coffee, in fact! I have one cup every morning.
There's something comforting about holding a steaming, warm drink such as coffee on cooler fall and winter mornings. Mmm. Besides water, coffee is my favorite drink.
Did you know that regular, conventional coffee is one of the most heavily sprayed crops out there? I didn't know that until a couple years ago. Google it. I think you'll be surprised!
Actually, I'll insert a screenshot from my phone about this fact for you.
It's kind of sad that regular coffee beans are drenched in chemicals and pesticides, isn't it?! When drinking regular coffee every day, you can be certain that you are getting some of those chemicals and pesticides in you as well.
May I suggest switching to organic coffee? The next time you plan to do some grocery shopping and need to refill your coffee stash, check your local grocery store for organic coffee. Our Walmart sells organic coffee for about the same price as their regular coffee.
A couple years ago, I was shopping in a local grocery store, one that we have very close to our home called Safeway. I decided to look at their selection of coffee. I noticed that their standard, one pound bags of ground, organic coffee were the same price as their regular, ground coffee. For the same price, why not give the organic coffee a try? So I did. And now, I'm hooked. I will never go back to drinking regular, ground coffee again.
What difference did I notice? To me, the taste of this organic coffee was far superior! I told a local friend of mine (who loves coffee and is on a very tight budget!) about this organic coffee after I tried it. After she purchased a bag, she told me it was the best coffee she'd ever had in her life! (and she grew up in New York city!)
The organic coffee I purchase (usually for just $5.00 a bag) does not have a bitter after taste. That bitter after taste was something I never liked after drinking regular coffee.
More than anything else though, I'm glad to know that I'm not chugging away chemicals and pesticides with my morning cup of coffee.
I'm not saying don't have an occasional Starbucks (or McDonalds) cup of coffee for a rare treat or if you are on a road trip and need to stay awake.
But please, do be aware what is in regular coffee. Me personally, I love organic coffee!
Try organic coffee and see if you find one you enjoy. Your health is worth it.
