Trust in God
So far, I've written about seven important aspects of health on this blog. I have one more to write about. I believe this one is, by far, the most important of them all. Trust in God.
God is the One Who made us. God is the Designer of the human body. God knows better than anyone else what is best for us, especially things pertaining to our health.
Our physical health and our spiritual health depend on the importance of our trust in God.
Because our trust in God is such an important aspect to our physical and spiritual health, our view of God is also incredibly important! It is difficult to trust in God if we have a wrong or negative view of Him. Our view of God affects us in an enormous way!
These things have been called such by many who've studied health because these things are extremely important to our physical health.
In the same way that a loving parent cares for their child, God, as a loving Father, cares about each one of us and can be completely trusted.
One of my favorite Psalms in God's Word says:
"Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them." Psalm 139:16
According to this verse, God knew each one of us even before we were formed in our mother's womb. That's incredible, isn't it?!
The book of Job says that our days are also determined by God:
"Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass." Job 14:5
Each of us has an appointed time to be born and to die unless we are alive when the trumpet of the Lord sounds when He comes to gather His children home.
Knowing those facts, that God created me and determined the exact number of my days, gives me tremendous peace. Our loving God is worthy to be trusted.
Studies have shown that those who trust in God have a better outcome after surgery and other major, health related issues.
The Bible is very clear that our salvation is in God alone. As God's children, we trust in God for our salvation. Psalm 62 says this in several verses:
"Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.
He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved."
Psalm 62:1-2
It is so important that we let the Word of God define our view of God, not others. People will fail us, but God never does.
Psalm 103 is a wonderful chapter in God's Word that gives a beautiful glimpse into the eternal nature and character of God. I've been a Christian for 27 years (since I was 11 years old), and I still have to be reminded, through God's Word, Who God says He is. God is so great, our human minds cannot fully comprehend His greatness and His love, but nonetheless, God is exactly Who He says He is.
Because of sin, our physical body will die someday. The greatest decision anyone could ever make is to trust in God for their salvation. God's Word and His love is true and everlasting.
Those who've been following this blog now know what some call the 8 laws of health:
Water
Rest
Sunshine
Fresh Air
Exercise
Nutrition
Moderation
Trust in God
Now you, the reader, can teach and share the importance of these things with others. I began this health blog so that I could hopefully help raise awareness about things.
When I started this blog last year, I chose "Erin's Healthy Choices" as a title because I couldn't come up with any other good ideas. Yes, it reflects my name and some things I've learned and some choices I've made, but this blog is not meant to be about me. It was meant to hopefully help and be a blessing to others.
If you only read one post, please do not judge my entire blog on one post. As stated in some of my first posts written on this blog, I believe in medical doctors, and I thank God for them. We need them. However, medical doctors are not perfect, and there are many practical things we can do on a daily basis to help towards having good health.
I knew when I started this blog that it would likely take me close to a year to write on these eight different aspects of health because they are so important. These are big ones.
With that said, prepare to see many more posts on this blog, and likely, much more frequently! I plan to share extremely practical health posts on this blog, ranging from filtered shower heads, to better, healthier peanut butter, to better, more breathable fabrics to wear, to some favorite, healthy recipes! Some posts will be very short while others will be much longer. Stay tuned for lots more!
Disclaimer: I am not a medical doctor, and I have no medical training. The things I share on this blog are simple, practical things that I've learned help with good health.
