Green Smoothie Recipe + Extra Nutrition Tips
This green smoothie recipe is one that I enjoy! I never thought I’d say that about a green smoothie. The color green and smoothies didn’t usually go together in my mind. Pink, strawberry smoothies, yes, but not green ones.
You cannot make this stuff up! As they say, "the proof is in the pudding." She sees this kind of thing all the time with her patients. I don't know if this woman is a Christian or not, but she is helping so many people to heal from so many physical health issues by using nothing more than plant based foods.
Meat in this verse is another word for food. God's original, perfect diet for mankind was only plant foods. And in heaven someday, we will eat God's perfect diet for man once again. The book of Revelation, the last book of the Bible, says this:
This recipe has changed my mind about green smoothies. Green smoothies can still be green and taste just as delicious as pink, strawberry ones.
To make this green smoothie:
Fill your blender (or personal sized blender) 3/4 full with fresh spinach. (and when I say fill, I mean really pack the blender container with spinach.) Kale also works well, but kale has a slight bitter taste. Unless you like the flavor of kale, I recommend using spinach because spinach is very mild tasting. Both spinach and kale are highly nutritious and both are power packed full of nutrition! God made both spinach and kale that way. This is what will make your smoothie green and very healthy!
Add blender with water up to the top level of the greens.
Add sweet, frozen fruit to the remaining top 1/4 of blender. I recommend frozen bananas along with maybe some other sweet frozen fruit such as: mango, cherries, papaya, or pineapple. (tropical fruits work well in this smoothie recipe.) The frozen fruit is what is going to give your green smoothie its flavor, so I highly recommend using sweet fruit like very ripe bananas. If you use frozen bananas that are not very ripe, or any other kind of fruit that is not quite as sweet as bananas (like apples or berries which I don't recommend for this particular smoothie recipe) you might wonder why I'm recommending a smoothie recipe like this. The fruit must be sweet for it to taste good. Trust me. I've tried it. Green smoothies don't taste as good to me if they are not sweet.
Lastly, add 1 tsp. (or 2 tsp. for a larger blender) of flax seeds. What is that for? Flax seeds are full of Omega 3's and are anti inflammatory - something that helps your body to heal.
That's it! Just those four simple ingredients! (you do not need to add 10-20 different things to a green smoothie to make it healthy or delicious.)
Blend all together and enjoy your amazing, highly nutritious, healing, green smoothie!
In reality, your green smoothie will be a darker green color than the light green smoothie shown in the photo above. It will look more like this. (see photos below) I took these photos when making this green smoothie recipe.

This basic smoothie recipe came from a medical doctor named Dr. Brooke Golder. You can find her on YouTube and other social media sites. She also has a website at this link:
This medical doctor had lupus (an auto-immune disease) many years ago, and now, she no longer does. Her story is absolutely amazing! Other medical doctors didn't give her much hope with her disease. Through a chain of events (look her up on YouTube and listen to her story sometime!), she changed her diet and began eating a highly nutritious, totally plant based diet. No sugar or processed foods (no junk food) and no animal products. (no meat or dairy) By doing that, she was completely healed of lupus and now helps other people to do the same!
She has written books about how to heal on her highly nutritious protocol, using nothing more than raw, plant based foods! She also helps people, personally, in online groups (for a high cost!) coaching people while helping them to heal. She not only helps other people to heal from auto-immune diseases, she also helps people to heal from other physical diseases and health issues.
I am on her email list of subscribers for her updates and free classes that she occasionally gives online. Just last month, this email came into my inbox. I took a screen shot and saved it so that I could share some of the testimonies from people who have been on her high nutrition protocol.
What does this prove? To me, it proves the absolute truth of the Bible, God's eternal and infallible Word.
In the Bible, when God created the world, it says that God created plants to be our food. Genesis 1:29 says:
"And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat."
Meat in this verse is another word for food. God's original, perfect diet for mankind was only plant foods. And in heaven someday, we will eat God's perfect diet for man once again. The book of Revelation, the last book of the Bible, says this:
"And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations." Revelation 22:1-2
Plants heal the body! God created plants to be both food and medicine for us, just as the verse above states - the leaves of the trees for the healing of the nations.
Whether she realizes it or not, this medical doctor, Dr. Brooke Goldner, is proving the absolute truth of the Bible through her healing protocol. Can you imagine what would happen if her patients began to eat a lot of sugar and/or animal products? (meat and dairy) I can guarantee you, they would get worse. The doctor I mentioned does not eat any animal products. She is vegan, and I know she would encourage others to eat the same.
You may be thinking, a plant food diet sounds pretty radical. Yes, it is very different than how the average American eats. (and the average American diet is one reason why we have so many health issues in our country.) However, for someone dealing with a serious health issue, eating totally plant based foods is something worth considering.
God did give man permission to eat meat (animals) in Genesis chapter 9. But, it was not his perfect diet for mankind.
Because I know that God gave man permission to eat meat (animals), I personally believe you can eat animal products (meat and dairy) and still be healthy, but those things should be limited. (please read the post I wrote on this blog about which meats are better ones to eat) As much as possible, eat more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and seeds - the food God created for us to eat.
Some simple ideas for getting more fruits and vegetables into your diet on a daily basis?
For breakfast? Eat some fruit, such as a banana, an apple, an orange, or some berries with your cereal or bagel or toast or whatever it is you have for breakfast. (what we did when I was growing up and what we still do) So easy!
For lunch? Eat some carrot or celery sticks with your meal. Or cucumber slices or pepper slices or broccoli or cauliflower pieces. Guacamole makes a great, healthy dip to dip fresh, raw veggies in! Or, if you do a lot of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch, apple slices or orange slices pair great with that! There are lots of ways to include fresh fruit and veggies into your meals.
For supper? In seasons when it's warmer, serve a large, green salad with your supper! You can purchase organic spinach or lettuce (like spring mix or something similar) at Walmart (or other grocery stores) for usually around $5.00 for a large container. (like the spinach I used for my smoothie shown above) Open the container and dump the lettuce in a large serving bowl. (serve chopped veggies with that if you like.) It doesn't get much easier than that.
In the winter when it is really cold and you don't feel like eating fresh green salads as much, cook or steam vegetables like potatoes, corn, squash, green beans, etc. to have with your supper! So simple. So easy.
And remember, grains are also something God created. Although they are carbs, whole grains are also very healthy for you also. Think: oats, rice, wheat, etc. I highly recommend something called “Ezekiel Bread”. It is an organic, sprouted, whole grain bread and is great for toast for breakfast!
I know that I veered off of the green smoothie recipe in this post, but since this is my last recipe post, I wanted to mention this extra, practical stuff. Most of what I have shared on this blog in regards to food and nutrition, I grew up learning from my mom. I remember my mom sharing with me once that many cancers (although not all of them) can be traced back to a lack of good nutrition. That's something I never forgot. There are many people whose bodies are crying for good nutrition. The green smoothie recipe I shared in this post is full of great nutrition! (If you decide to try making this green smoothie sometime, please do not add any sugar or dairy to your smoothie. Doing that would make it inflammatory and unhealthy.)
What we eat is very important and has a big affect on our health, but it is not everything.
Stay tuned as I begin to share on this blog other aspects of good health.
Disclaimer: I am not a medical doctor, and I have no medical training. The things I share on this blog are simple, practical things that I've learned help with good health.
