Air Fresheners
Recently, I shared about the importance of using more natural cleaning products instead of using standard cleaning products which are usually very toxic. Another thing to be aware of is air fresheners.
What do I mean by air fresheners? I'm referring to things like wall plug-ins and room sprays. These things are made to "freshen up" a room or any space to smell nicer. Sadly, most of them are very toxic.
Wall plug-ins come in different forms: some are liquid while others are more like a gel pad. Both kinds are, quite often, highly toxic. Those things are released into the air, and you breathe that in.
This article (shared in the link below) expounds more on this:
In general, my Dad is not into health related things very much, while my Mom does enjoy learning more about health related things. However, an area that my mom hasn't learned as much about are things relating to body care products and cleaning products and such. I've enjoyed sharing more about that with my mom.
What I have found ironic, and even somewhat amusing, is that my Dad (who isn't into health stuff) has asked my Mom, over the years, to please not use wall plug-ins in our home. Why? My Dad knows the truth about them. They can cause cancer. Although my Dad has strong leadership capabilities, my Dad is usually a very "lay back" man. In general, my Dad almost never tells my mom what she may or may not purchase. He leaves that up to my mom, and if my mom isn't sure about something, my mom will ask my Dad about it. But when it comes to wall plug-ins, my Dad has been very forthright about that with my mom - please do not use them in our home.
Candles are something else that are often used to help make a room or space smell much better. Unfortunately, certain candles are something else to be mindful of which I wrote about here.
What do you do with unpleasant smells and odors that might arise in your home or in any other place? My recommendation is to simply open some doors and windows and let some fresh air in. I wrote a post on this blog about that nearly two years ago which you can read here.
Thankfully, there are some better, more natural candles and room sprays out there for sale, although, it usually will require a trip to a health store. Quite often, there are not as many to choose from, but usually, health stores will have some nice citrus sprays. Citrus is a great, all natural way of removing bad odors.
The air we breathe has a major affect on our health. I recommend staying away from anything that might bring more toxins into your home or work place.
Disclaimer: I am not a medical doctor, and I have no medical training. The things I share on this blog are simple, practical things that I've learned help with good health.
